Skellig Michael: Clinging Beauty

Skellig Micheal was truly an epic place. Though super rocky and out in the middle of the ocean, it still had so much beauty. Everywhere you look were these flowers that clung to the rock faces.
Scottish Gorse

All over Scotland we were seeing this bright yellow bush. Up close you quickly realize that though it is beautiful, this is a very hardy and spiny bush.
Rosemary on Ice

I figure since it is so hot out, I would try to help cool things down with some shots I took after an early winter snow storm. The rosemary was peeking out and I loved the juxtaposition of the green herb on a field of snow. Location: Gibsonville, NC
Uwharrie National Forrest Anniversary Excursion: The Uwharrie

If you visit the Uwharrie the first thing you will learn is that most of its trails main audience is horse back riders. Fortunately when we stopped by the ranger station on our way in we were informed that if we wanted to try hiking any of the trails that were for Horses, Bikes, and Hiking, that we would want to not do that on a weekend because they would be packed with horse riders and thus dangerous to hikers.
Great Bend Park at Glenco

Near the old Glenco Mill in Alamance county you can access part of the Mountains to the Sea trail. It is also part of the Haw River Trail. It is a beautiful hike, complete with views of the Haw river and a man made waterfall. Well worth a visit.
Northeast Park

Here are some shots from one of our recent hikes at Northeast Park in Guildford County.
Down on the Bayou

We recently went down to Louisiana and were definitely treated to the full flavor of the deep south! The images above came from a feast of 250 lbs of crawfish. As you can see we ate well! We also were lucky enough to be right on Bayou Teche. The next images are from the dock.

Lake Macintosh

Cathy and I ran out to Lake Macintosh for a quick 3 mile hike a couple weekends ago. The trail is right along the lake for most of the hike with a great little Gazebo at the halfway point. The above picture was taken at that point. The light was right and the reflection in the water was great!
Scenes from Semora

So we took a trip up to Semora recently for our niece’s first birthday party and as you can see while up there I got the opportunity to shoot a bit!
I walked outside to watch the above storm come in and while I was standing there marveling at the site I realized that I could be capturing this. I ran inside grabbed the camera and ran back out and was lucky enough not to have missed the whole thing!
Eno River Anniversary Photography Excursion

For our first anniversary, my wife surprised me with a jaunt over to Eno River State Park to hike and take pictures. It was perfect and such an awesome trip! We went down to the Eastern trails and as you can see from the above shot we found some great places to shoot.
