Great Bend Park at Glenco

Near the old Glenco Mill in Alamance county you can access part of the Mountains to the Sea trail. It is also part of the Haw River Trail. It is a beautiful hike, complete with views of the Haw river and a man made waterfall. Well worth a visit.
The first thing you come to is the mill race which is a section that is diverted around the damn to run in the mill in days past. It has slowly eroded some areas which offer a nice falls.
We decided to hike along and stop at the man made falls on the way back. The trail itself is well maintained and a wonderful easy hike right along the haw river the entire way.
As I mentioned above we stopped at the man made falls on the way back. There is a spot where you can look right down on to the falls.
There is a ledge about 2 feet wide, where I decided to set myself and my tripod on for some unique views of the falls.
These last two I submitted to the Friends of the Mountains to the Sea Trail photo contest as they were some of my favorite shots from that day.
