Uwharrie National Forrest Anniversary Excursion: Marrow Mountain State Park

This year for our anniversary my wonderful wife planned an excursion to the Uwharrie National Forrest. It is an awesome place to go for hikes. On the other side of the lake from it also lies Marrow Mountain State Park. Both are very picturesque. We started it all off right with a visit to Marrow Mountain State Park.

Great Bend Park at Glenco

Near the old Glenco Mill in Alamance county you can access part of the Mountains to the Sea trail. It is also part of the Haw River Trail. It is a beautiful hike, complete with views of the Haw river and a man made waterfall. Well worth a visit.

Northeast Park

Here are some shots from one of our recent hikes at Northeast Park in Guildford County.

Eno River Anniversary Photography Excursion

For our first anniversary, my wife surprised me with a jaunt over to Eno River State Park to hike and take pictures. It was perfect and such an awesome trip! We went down to the Eastern trails and as you can see from the above shot we found some great places to shoot.

Old Mill Dam at Cedarock Park

Last weekend my wonderful wife and I decided to head over to Cedarock Park to play some disc golf (they have a couple great disc golf courses there). When we pulled up we realized that there was a tournament going on and thus disc golf would not be possible. Fortunately for us Cedarock also has hiking with a cool little dam at the end so we just switched up our plans and decided to take the hike.

Northeast Park take 2

Went back to North East Park and shot some more images of the water with the nice blurred effect. Unfortunately I had one setting wrong on the camera (left image stabilization on) which left most of the shots blurry. Fortunately I was able to salvage the one above.

Painting with Water and Light

We took in a hike at Northeast Park last weekend and it was a great hike with over half of it following 2 different rivers. I brought my tripod and I got to playing with low shutter speeds to make the water have a more motion blurred look and I am very happy with the results. The first couple shots below feel like they could be an abstract painting. I love the effect!
