Topsail Storms: Rain on Waves

Here is a panorama as the storm progressed up the coast to begin to encompassed us as well. I really liked how the rain coming down started to give the waves a softer look.

Uwharrie National Forrest Anniversary Excursion: Marrow Mountain State Park

This year for our anniversary my wonderful wife planned an excursion to the Uwharrie National Forrest. It is an awesome place to go for hikes. On the other side of the lake from it also lies Marrow Mountain State Park. Both are very picturesque. We started it all off right with a visit to Marrow Mountain State Park.

Great Bend Park at Glenco

Near the old Glenco Mill in Alamance county you can access part of the Mountains to the Sea trail. It is also part of the Haw River Trail. It is a beautiful hike, complete with views of the Haw river and a man made waterfall. Well worth a visit.

Northeast Park

Here are some shots from one of our recent hikes at Northeast Park in Guildford County.

Down on the Bayou

We recently went down to Louisiana and were definitely treated to the full flavor of the deep south! The images above came from a feast of 250 lbs of crawfish. As you can see we ate well! We also were lucky enough to be right on Bayou Teche. The next images are from the dock.

Heidelberg Germany!

So first and foremost let me refresh. My family and I went on a European trip for 2 weeks this summer. We started in Heidelberg, Germany. This is where my parents met and became engaged. We then moved on to Prague in the Czech Republic and then into Poland hitting Krakow and Czestochowa. Our final Stop was in Berlin, Germany. We also stopped on some smaller cities for lunches such as Nuremberg, Germany and Wroclaw, Poland as well as a castle on a mountain side in Poland called Pieskowa Skała. I will be posting pictures in order of the places we visited, so first up is Heidelberg, Germany.

Lake Macintosh

Cathy and I ran out to Lake Macintosh for a quick 3 mile hike a couple weekends ago. The trail is right along the lake for most of the hike with a great little Gazebo at the halfway point. The above picture was taken at that point. The light was right and the reflection in the water was great!
